World premieres by German and Israeli composers

The world premieres of 9 works by German and Israeli composers formed the first highlight of the German Choral Festival on Friday, May 30, at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. These were the prize-winning entries from the international arrangement competition for the “Jewish-German Songbook of 1912”, presented with virtuosity and sensitivity by the Moran Singers from Tel Aviv and the Sonoris Vokalensemble from Nuremberg.

In their speeches, former Federal President Christian Wulff and Dr. Ludwig Spaenle focused on the importance of this unique German-Israeli cooperation. They thanked Thomas Spindler and the project 2025 – Arche Musica from Schloß Wernsdorf, which is responsible for the discovery of the 2019 songbook, and the jury under Danny Donner (Israel) and Stephan Doormann (Germany), who had realized this great moment of choral music, 80 years after the end of the war, together with the German Choral Association as part of the German Choral Festival.
