1700 YEARS OF JEWISH LIFE IN GERMANY

Jewish life in Germany looks back on a 1700-year history, which will be celebrated with the nationwide festival year 2021 "1700 years of Jewish life in Germany". The Jewish cemeteries are a central part of the culture of Franconia, a former core region of Jewish life in southern Germany. They are still referred to as the "House of Life" (Bet Ha Chayim) and the "House of Eternity" (Bet Ha 'Olam). Designed for eternity, they have repeatedly been the target of anti-Semitic desecrations throughout their history. With their history and their fates, they are important places of remembrance to commemorate the members and victims of their Jewish communities.
