Lyrics: From Ha-Zamir

Tune: Ben-Yehuda

Hebrew translation (PDF)

The text of this song was published in Ha-Zamir (Odessa, 1903: p. 37). Another melody was published in T'ame Zimra le-Shire Ha-Zamir (Warsaw, 1904: p. 43).

In “Shir na'ar ro'e”, a shepherd boy tends his flock in the beautiful hills under the blue skies, close to a creek. The glories of nature make him so happy that he begins to sing.

Idelsohn (Ben-Yehuda) composed this melody in a major key, and added a refrain with the syllables: "la-la -la".
