Tune: Ben-Yehuda

Hebrew translation (PDF)

This text was published in the second volume of Yaakov Cohen's Sefer Ha-Shirim (Warsaw, 1905: p. 15).

Pa'ame mashiah describes the signs of the arrival of the messiah in accordance with the Jewish aphorism: "Even iIf you don't hear him [the messiah] or see him, he is still coming”. In the song, the messiah might stand for the return of the Jewish people to Zion.

Idelsohn (Ben-Yehuda) composed a melody in a minor key.
